London Tubular Centre at the MPS World Summit in Berlin

Our team members Alessandra, Eunice and Shawn are back from the 2nd MPS (Microphysiological Systems) World Summit in Berlin, brimming with inspirations and enthusiasm for fresh experiments! The conference served as a remarkably international networking platform, bringing together a wide range of scientists, engineers and biotech companies working on the development of the Organ-On-a-Chip and Organoid to share the cutting-edge innovations in the field.

The London Tubular Centre team presented their latest advancements in establishing novel in vitro cellular tubular model (Tubule-On-a-Chip) for human distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct, as well as an automated AI-segmentation tool of kidney biopsies (for more info about these research studies, visit the Projects page). Despite being a new entrant, the centre research studies garnered significant attention from both other researchers and from industrial teams in attendance.

Also, congratulation to Eunice who was awarded the Student and Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Award generously offered by the MPS committee and well done to Alessandra for chairing the “MPS for Organ interactions” symposia!

And after the full days of science and networking, they also found the time to visit some of Berlin best attractions, to embrace the history and art that this city has to offer. And for those who don’t know, our team members are big foodies, therefore they could not leave such a multicultural city like Berlin without trying some of the typical german dishes and international delicacies!

Armed with newfound insights and collaborations, our centre is eager to implement these learnings into the next step, wishing best of luck of breakthrough in the days to come! And they are looking forward to attend the 3rd MPS World Summit in Seattle in June 2024!
